DE Dems Retain GA Control With Hansen Victory

(Dover, DE)---Democrats will remain in control of the Delaware legislature after Stephanie Hansen rolled to victory in Saturday’s special election for the 10th District state Senate seat.  That gives Senate Democrats an 11-10 edge over Republicans to retain their 44-year majority.  It should also clear the way for Senate confirmation of Shawn Garvin as Natural Resources and Environmental Control Secretary.  Senate Republicans were able to block Governor Carney’s nomination of the former Environmental Protection Agency official when the Senate was deadlocked 10-10.  Hansen will fill the Senate seat vacated by Bethany Hall-Long when she was inaugurated Lt. Governor in January.
